Afghanistan: How did we get in? How can we get out? Wednesday, June 24, 7:00 pm Brooklyn Friends Meeting House, 110 Schermerhorn St., (betw. Brooklyn Br Blvd & Smith St)
Come hear Elizabeth Gould and Paul Fitzgerald, authors of Invisible History: Afghanistans Untold Story
As the US expands its wars from Iraq to Afghanistan to Pakistan, we need to understand the history of our involvement in the region and the roots of the current crisis. What strategy will promote a peaceful resolution of these conflicts?
The authors have traveled to and reported on Afghanistan for over 30 years. They will lead a discussion and answer questions regarding this war which is destroying the lives of thousands in Afghanistan, undermining domestic reform in the United States, and may yet become the next Vietnam.

Vigils will continue the first TUESDAY of every month until aid is restored.
At US Mission to the United Nations, 140 E. 45th St, (between Lexington and 3rd Ave.), Manhattan
This is the time for the U.S. to use its leverage to push UN to enforce the resolutions it has already passed.
Deploy the already-authorized UN troops (UNAMID) and impose multilateral sanctions on the Sudanese regime, to end ongoing atrocities, being carried out with impunity by the Sudanese government.
Call for international justice and accountability, including arrest of Sudanese officials who have been indicted by the International Criminal Court.
Now is a time of renewed violence in Darfur. On March 4, 2009, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for President Al-Bashir, who has responded by expelling aid groups which are providing essential services (food, health care, water) for more than a million Darfuris in Internally-Displaced-Person camps.
